Born in 1946, Prof Fukumoto Shugeki has had no less than 16 solo exhibitions in Japan. He has also taken part in some 36 group exhibitions in Japan and overseas. His works were exhibited in Paris, London, Cleveland, Boston, Lausanne, Lodz, Taipei, Jakarta and Beijing.

Some of his works are displayed among the collections of the National Museums of Modern Art in Tokyo and Kyoto, Osaka Foundation of Culture, Kyushu Sangyo University, Fukuoka, Tamba Municipal Ueno Memorial and the Cleveland Museum of Art.
