Susan McLean
Currently pursuing a Master's degree in visual arts at the Monash University, Melbourne, Susan focuses on batik, rozome, shibori and felt. In her travels in Australia, she has gathered data for her studio work and has also made studies of the country's Indigenous people.

Her tours and investigations have enabled her to unearth a wealth of knowledge about marks etched on the surfaces of nature, shifting surfaces, the patinas of climatic and other natural forces at work and marks made by human hands on stones and trees. To her, layers, textures and transparencies express a spirit of the place and a memory of a landscape to provoke questions about the environment and heritage. Sounds inspire her as she observes, draws, then attempts to convey the spirit of a place through her textile studio work.
