Lee Creswell
Lee Cresswell is an experienced silk painter and batik artist whose hand-painted wall hangings, paintings and scarves have been exhibited at home and abroad. She enjoys the intricacies of drawing with hot liquid wax and found the procedure of waxing and dyeing fascinating and challenging. She now concentrates on silk and is a freelance tutor/demonstrator in batik, shibori and silk painting and currently holding workshops in United States. Her works include seascape and marine life; a favourite subject being the movement of water. Two pairs of oriental doorway curtains were exhibited in the 1st International Silk Painting Congress in Fairfax, Virginia, USA and since then has exhibited in galleries at home and abroad. Several of her paintings are displayed in Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge; two batik silk pieces were included in “Batik for Artists & Quilters” book. She was also invited to contribute a short article for the UK Batik Guild;s Book : ‘Batik Transitions : From Classic to Contemporary’. Lee has not only written articles for a number of journals but also has been interviewed for articles in Magazines and had Private Commissions from America, Germany, Japan and Addenbrooke’s Hospital. Lee gained a certificate in Botanical Illustration as part of a Certificate of Education with the University of Cambridge Adult Education.
